Vernon – Wilfred R. Rounds, Sr., 83, of Vernon, VT and formerly of Putney, VT passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Pine Heights Nursing Home where he had been a resident since October 31, 2016.

Wilfred was born in Jamaica, VT at the home of Albert and Pearl Magoon on July 23, 1933. He was the son of William and Florence (Magoon) Rounds.

Willie worked many jobs including at the Townshend Furniture Company, Basketville, Putney Paper Co. and many years at the Book Press.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and camping.

On March 21, 1953 at the Townshend Church he was married to Edith (Coomes) Rounds who predeceased him on December 11, 2016.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana Holden of Westminster and sons, Wilfred Rounds, Jr. and fiancée Judy Pagella of Guilford and Keith Rounds of Putney.

Willie also has eight grandchildren, Shawn Goodell and fiancée Kathy Cobb, Jason Goodell and wife Bridget, Heather (Holden) Smith, Eric Rounds, Zachary Rounds, Jeremy Rounds, Peter Keith Rounds and Jamie Rounds. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Cooper Stafford, Rhianna Smith, Jordan Goodell, Taylor Goodell, Noah Cobb and Jackson Goodell.

He is also survived by brothers, Maynard Rounds of Vernon and Wayne Rounds of Townshend; sisters, Lorraine Varney and Barbara Rounds of Zephyrhills, FL and Millie Austin of Hinsdale, NH; a sister-in-law, Anita Coomes of Putney, and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Edith Rounds, parents, William and Florence Rounds, a son, Ronald Rounds and brothers-in-law, George Varney, David Austin and Harris Coomes.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for his medical care by Dr. Robert Backus over the several years.

At Willie's request there will be no funeral services. Willie and Edie's cremated remains will be buried in the family plot in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Putney on May 6, 2017.
